Being a citizens of a democracy means that you and I share responsibility for the defense of our freedoms spelled out in the Constitution. Damning evidence exists that telecoms conspired with federal intelligence agencies to conduct massive illegal spying on American citizens. The ACLU has made it easy towrite to your house representative as I did and urge him or her to support the SURVEILLANCE REFORM BILL recently introduced on to the House floor by Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12). It is our duty to stop unconstitutional spying and hold those who did to account.

This addition to my GroundControl clothing collections has spent a long time in development. TechArtisans were a daydream of mine in the winter of 07/08. During the summer of 08 I put scissors to paper. I finally stitched together a prototype in the early fall of 08. I perfected my size in time to show a few pairs at the Code Mode market/exhibition in April 09. Custom sizes for men are now available(measurements). I am continuing to work on adjusting the pattern for women as well. Check out the more detailed photos and descriptions in the linked photo essay.

KVIFF is the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. It is by far the largest and most popular film festival in the Czech republic. KVIFF has an excellent reputation for attracting many of the worlds best films and a crowed of film enthusiasts less concerned with the pomp and pretensions that can accompany some more famous festivals. My wife Katka and I traveled there together for the first time this year and had an excellent time. With the festival crawling with media, it was also an excellent opportunity to photograph a collection of shorts.

Yes, the suit is my design and Katka has a dress from Iva Belikova. It took Iva’s expertise to actually make my jacket design happen but of course I take credit for the pants. My good friend Kurt Vinion took the very professional photos. Check out his other work on his wedding blog. We had a great time thanks to all our friends who helped make it happen.
