Evelina is now an amazing food scientist. She performs the most interesting and entertaining experiments with all her food. She is a good sport and will always taste something once. However, 'eating' is not really about getting food into her stomach yet. It mostly seems to be about exploration and practice of the eating experience. Holding the spoon, reaching for the food, feeling the food and maybe tasting the food a little are her favorite mealtime activities.
Evelina is still going through a lot of firsts. Here she is on her first solo swing mission. Luckily she has some great friends to show her the ropes or chains or whatever.
Tala and Pao are about half a year older than EJ. I hope they are able to hang out a lot. I bet those two will have a lot to teach Evelina.
Here we are walking around town. I'm pretty sure we were trying to do some errand as a family on some Sunday afternoon. Those usually take a lot more time then we originally thought but as Evelina gets older, doing pretty much anything with her is getting more fun.
Evelina seems to have become fascinated with the world of the tiny. It is so cool to see her struggle to pick of a tiny scrap of paper and then fool around with it for like 5 minutes. For some reason I like that she enjoys focusing her attention onto tiny things.
Here are Evelina, her aunt Bara and I at our first family BBQ. We had Czech fatty sausages with bread, mustard, horseradish, pickles and Czech tasty beer. EJ liked the forest a lot, especially shaking the branches full of leaves on the trees.
This frog pond is in my favorite nearby park, Kinsky. It is basically, the way we walk to the town center. We have to walk quite a bit up hill through some really nice neighborhoods but the climb is well worth it. It was rebuilt with EU funds and has some of the best views of the city. Though this park we can walk to Dave's without encountering any of the traffic and noisy city life.
We used this particular trip to investigate how the pond was fed with cold spring water.
Honzik is one of Evelina's newest friends. He is the son of another of our excellent Frisbee friends. His family name is Mala but he doesn't actually seem that small to me considering how young he is in this picture.
Evelina had her first pool experience at the house of our old Frisbee friend Jeff. Evelina wasn't fearful of the water but dispite it being one of the hottest summer days the water was still quite cool. It was also very very bright and we have no Evelina sized sunglasses yet.
In fact, I'm pretty sure she hated her first 'swim'. She didn't cry but just wouldn't let me lower her into water over her bellybutton. My main concern was to not freak her out on her first swimming experience. In that regard, mission accomplished.
Katka's mom and sister have become more and more involved with our little family. It is really great to have relatives living so close. They have helped us out a ton already.
