From left to right: Teta Jitka (Katka's dad's sister), Babi (Katka's mom Jana), Me, EJ, Teta Bara (Katka's sister). Of course everyone was so excited to see the newest addition to our family. I'm only just beginning to understand the significance of the event.
For Evelina, pushing the baby cart seemed to be the highlight of meeting her little brother for the first time. The fact is that day old babies are more fun to play with indirectly. Here Babi helps maintain order as the parents record the event. Babi has already stepped up her care for EJ significantly. Evelina really enjoys spending time with her grandmother at her flat with Bara, Bara's boyfriend Vašek and the family dog Tarina. She spent two nights in a row there following Eliáš's arrival. EJ always returns home excited to try and tell us what she did there.
Here is Eliáš and Děda (Katka's dad Mirek). He has also shown his support with flowers, gifts and he and his sister even came to to our place to make us lunch. Aunt Jitka prepared delicious pork loin and potatoes. It is so great to have such a caring family living so close.
Katka spent three days and nights at the U Apolinář maternity hospital. She said it was a better experience than last time. Her roommates were great and they are now facebook friends. The food was good and she was able to eat it when it was warm which probably went some way towards the improved experience.
Now at home, I've already gotten used to Eliáš looking exactly the same as Evelina did at zero. He is already much more chill than she was however. His first night home I didn't sleep so well but everyone else did. And now EJ and I sleep through the night without problems because Eliáš doesn't really cry ever. Katka sleeps pretty lightly through the night and wakes to care for him. What a great mom!
Eliáš brings a lot of changes into our life. Thankfully he came only two weeks into my summer holiday from school. EJ and I had been spending more time together as a result and now I've become her primary caregiver. I love this role and it is great to see her English language abilities improve day by day.
EJ liked the idea of having a brother and now that he is out, she also likes him in person. She does her best to be kind to him and he is also accepting of her attention. So far it appears we have been fortunate to have kids with compatible personalities and temperaments.
